The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation asks you to help end suffering of women and girls in the Congo by signing the petition to President-elect Obama at www.raisehopeforcongo.org
This past year, philanthropy has opened my eyes to so much need and so much beauty. I have also realized how easy it is to help, and how rewarding it feels to be able to make a positive difference in someone's life.
Last week, my friend Carlos and I brought a video camera to Beyond Shelter. Just the two of us. There are 175 children with families here, most of whom have been homeless at some point.
Today, they play in a concrete courtyard. Because of the neighborhood they live in, they have nowhere else to play. I met a woman who has ten children living in a three-bedroom apartment. The Beyond Shelter rec room only allows ten kids at a time. I wish you could all go there with me and see.
I'd like to share with you a glimpse of these beautiful children through my eyes.
Please watch this video, Text "CHILD" to "90999" up to 5 times, share this with as many people as you can -- and ask them, from your heart, to join you in bringing more light and laughter to these beautiful faces.
It's just you and me making this happen. There is so much we can do together to help. A playground is just the beginning. We can change the world -- you and I.
I'm asking from my heart, and I cannot do it without your help. Please, you guys. Thank you for watching, texting and passing it on.
Peace & love,
Nicole

Change the life of a child… with a simple text.
We’re pleased to announce the launch of "Text CHILD to 90999", a new campaign to raise funds to help kids through a new kind of fundraising – with a simple text message. Each text message donates $5, billed to your phone bill. This is the first time a campaign is using popular culture mass media to raise funds with the new technology, so we’re excited to see how much we can raise.
The first thing we want to do is build a playground at Beyond Shelter. Their service enriched apartment building in Los Angeles has families with 175 kids in it, most of whom were formerly homeless. They’re playing in a concrete courtyard where we held our campaign launch today. We want to build them a playground – and you can help!
Out of the $5.00 donation, $4.50 goes to The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation to support programs like the playground at Beyond Shelter, and $.50 goes to the Mobile Giving Foundation to support more text donate programs like this. Standard text message rates also apply.
Most of the major US carriers support the campaign. If you’re outside the US, you can still join us by donating online.
We haven’t produced commercials or advertisements. It’s just you and us. Hopefully enough people will text "CHILD" to "90999" once, twice, up to five times, to help us build a playground at Beyond Shelter… and more.
Thanks for your help!
And, please, TEXT "C-H-I-L-D" to "9-0-9-9-9"

See blog.Everybody is fighting for "Rights" but what happen to the rights of little children caught in the middle of this sordid immoral battle of being adopted by homosexuals? homosexuals do have the rights. They have the right to relate to soemone of their sex and to do whatever else like a normal citizen of the world.
The government has not declared that they stand on buses and give up their seats to a straight person. There is no declaration that they use seperate toilets, attend seperate schools to heterosexuals. What kind of right are they fighting for?
The day that an individual decides to have a relationship with someone of the same sex is the day that that person gave up his/her rights to have children and to get married. No one took that right away. In all of this, noone cares or is talking about the rights of innocent children.
Telling me that oh, allowing gays to adopt children is better than foster home is telling me that selling drugs is better than stealing. Afterall, I would be honestly selling soemthing but does that make it right? No! Placing a child with no voice to object and the lack of understanding to make a decision as to where he/she lives is not doing what is best for that child.
What is the differenc ebetween placing a child into a racist or abusive home that will influence and/or teach that child racism or to abuse others and placing a child into an homosexual environ which may influence that child to be gay. Ultimately it is robbing that child of growing up under normal circumstances and making that child confused!
Children know nothing about racism, abuse or homosexuality. It is taught to them by adults. If this were not true, why after 40yrs America is still so racist? its because racist people have had children and has past it down to the children. It is a learnt behaviour. Homosexuality is not normal or natural and it does not take a religious person to see that. Same sexes CANNOT reproduce
For your wonderful efforts with the Foundation; I have put you in my Top Friends; where FEW celebs get on.. I like to top-friend great organizations of the advocate, activist nature.. wonderful work, much, much-needed!!
Nicole, I read the article in People, a month late, sorry. I also make my own babyfood, the book "SuperBabyFood",by Ruth Yaron; is FAB! Tanner gets avocado everyday, good for brain and eye development, try it, but buy Puerto Rican Avocadoes, as opposed to Hass Avos'. Tastes better and are ginormous,& extremely good fruit for babies. I have been making everything, including his cereal,w/brewers' yeast from day one. Nicole it's really refreshing to see someone as young as I, 26, making the best decisions for our future. You guys are improving the quality of life, for many, keep up the good work!

Dear Joel & Nicole, I just had to drop a note to tell you both how absolutely adorable Harlow is. The pics in People magazine made my week. I took the mag to work and was showing the photos off as if you were my own family. Daughters are special, I have one beauty of my own. I am so proud of the two of you for your complete turn around and wish you nothing but happiness for your futures.
